Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan 2019 Progress Report for Town of Huntersville

2019HMPprogreport

To maintain the Community Rating System (CRS) status within the National Flood Insurance Program, the Town of Huntersville is required to provide an annual status update of the implementation of each of the mitigation actions the town proposed in the Mecklenburg County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP). The plan was originally developed in 2005 and subsequently updated in 2010 and again in 2015 and is set to expire in June 2020.

The objective of this evaluation is to ensure that there is a continual and responsive planning process that will keep the HMP plan dynamic and responsive to the needs and capabilities of all the jurisdictions. The Planning Team held a kickoff meeting on 01/24/2019 to start the 2020 HMP plan update process and another meeting on 03/13/2019 to review and update goals of the 2015 plan. A third meeting was held on 07/31/2019 as part of the 2020 HMP plan update planning process.

The website for the 2020 HMP plan update is http://www.mecknchmp.com/index.html where you can find information about upcoming and past Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee meetings and public meetings, take a survey on hazard risk and mitigation options to inform the plan’s development, review draft documents, and learn more about the hazards that affect Mecklenburg County.
