2030 Community Plan Wins Award
The Town of Huntersville 2030 Community Plan is the recipient of a “2012 North Carolina Marvin Collins Outstanding Planning Award” in the Comprehensive Planning - Small Community category. The award was presented by the North Carolina Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA-NC) on September 27, 2012 at the Chapter’s Annual Planning Conference in Wilmington NC. The award “recognizes plans, programs or processes of unusually high merit.”
The 2030 Community Plan, prepared by Town of Huntersville Planning Department staff, is the culmination of an 18 month planning process which was guided by a joint Town Board/Planning Board Steering Committee and significant public input, including surveys completed by approximately 800 residents.
The APA-NC Awards Committee made special note of how the plan reflected the public input received during the course of the planning process, as well as the plan’s Implementation Schedule, which serves as the basis for annual budget requests. The 2030 Community Plan was adopted by the Town Board of Commissioners on June 20, 2011.
