National Night Out has been held annually since 1984 and is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch in the United States and Canada. In August of 2006, the Town of Huntersville, in cooperation with the Huntersville Police Department, sponsored National Night Out for the first time. National Night Out is a national neighborhood crime prevention event celebrated in numerous cities and towns across the United States.
