SWAT

The North Mecklenburg Regional Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team consists of 30 specially trained officers from the Huntersville Police Department, Davidson Police Department, and Cornelius Police Department.  Huntersville Police Department comprises 16 of the 30 members of this SWAT Team, including a Team Commander and Tactical Team Leader. The SWAT Team is also supported by MEDIC with Tactical Medics that train and respond to all call-outs of the SWAT Team. They are joined by the Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT) which consists of seven members including a Team Commander. Both teams train separately and jointly on an annual basis.

In today's society, law enforcement agencies are often confronted with incidents that are deemed high-risk because of their increased potential for violence. In order to properly control such situations, the Department utilizes specially trained and equipped officers to resolve high-risk incidents in a manner that affords minimum peril to those persons who may be directly or indirectly involved. The mission of the Huntersville Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team is to preserve life in high-risk situations through the use of specialized training, equipment, and tactics in a professional manner that inspires confidence in the community.

These teams prove their dedication and skill in numerous operations throughout the year.
