The NC Wildlife Resources Commission (WRC) regulates hunting and fishing in North Carolina. The WRC allows municipalities to participate in a specified Urban Archery season by submitting a letter of intent to participate in the season along with a map clearly defining the area to be included in the season. The 2023 Urban Archery Season is January 14 – February 19, 2023.

Town Boundaries
Urban archery season only applies to land within our Town limits, Current Town Boundaries map (PDF). Hunting is prohibited on public property. The Town of Huntersville does not maintain a list of private properties where hunting can occur. Hunters must have permission from property owners to hunt on their properties.
Restrictions
All Hunting Regulations apply. Hunters must follow regular deer season regulations, such as licensing, tagging, reporting, permission from landowners, and all other safety regulations.
Notice
The Urban Archery Season does not obligate private landowners to allow hunting on their property, nor does it eliminate the ethical requirement for obtaining permission from the landowner before hunting. The Town does not maintain any lands for hunting. Hunters are legally required to obtain written permission to hunt on posted property.
