BLET Sponsorships

BLET Sponsorships

We do sponsor people through BLET programs in NC. The first step is to get enrolled in a BLET program at a community college in NC. To be considered for sponsorship, we will need certified copies of your criminal history, certified driving records, a copy of your high school diploma/GED, and a copy of your driver's license.

Sponsorship candidates must understand that a sponsorship is a tuition waiver and is not a promise of employment and there is no financial compensation involved.

Contact the Recruiter before gathering the documents listed above.

BLET – What is it?

The Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program is a "rookie" police academy offered for students interested in completing the certification to become a law enforcement officer in the state of North Carolina. Basic Law Enforcement Training is a police academy that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for entry-level employment as law enforcement officers with the state, county, or municipal governments, or with private agencies.

The North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission mandates the topics and methods of instruction. General subjects include, but are not limited to, criminal, juvenile, civil, traffic and alcohol beverage laws; investigative, patrol, custody and court procedures; emergency responses; and ethics and community relations.

Students must successfully complete and pass all units of study, the POPAT (Police Officer Physical Abilities Test) course, and the state certification examination mandated by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission to receive a certificate. Upon successful completion of BLET, students can earn up to 23 credit hours toward the A.A.S. degree in Criminal Justice Technology.

Note: Employment with criminal justice agencies is subject to specific agency criteria; therefore, completion of the course alone is no guarantee of eligibility of employment.
