2007 Internal Affairs Analysis Report |
The Huntersville Police
Department is committed to delivering to our customers,
the citizens of Huntersville, the most effective, efficient,
sensitive, and professional police service possible. Our
Department will take an innovative approach in partnering
with the Community. We will strive towards building respect
for all individuals within the Community. As a TEAM, we
will hold each other accountable to higher standards because
Together Everyone Accomplishes More.
The Huntersville Police Department is a
full service law enforcement agency providing professional
police services twenty-four (24) hours a day. The department
is authorized 58 sworn police officer positions, two (2)
animal services officers and a civilian support staff of
5 full-time members. The North Mecklenburg Communications
Center located in Cornelius provides the Towns call
taking and dispatch service for police services.
The officers and employees of the Police
Department employ our own customized version of Community
Policing, which we call Huntersville Oriented Policing.
The principles of Huntersville Oriented Policing are to
form partnerships with our customers and to solve problems
from our customers point of view. The goals are to
reduce police calls for service, which includes victimization,
the departments workload, and to reduce the fear of
crime. All HPD officers are expected to form partnerships
and to solve problems through a structured problem-solving
method known as S.A.R.A. (Scanning, Analysis, Response and
Assessment). Consistent with these goals and principles,
supervisors, officers and detectives are permanently assigned
to a specific T.E.A.M. We believe that this T.E.A.M. approach
assists the officers and employees of the Department in
accomplishing their mission, improving the quality of life
and making Huntersville a safe place to live and work.
