Description

The purpose of the Beatties Ford Road Corridor Small Area Plan is to create a vision for future land use and transportation (including pedestrian and bike) system development within the study area, which balances preservation of the rural character of the BFR corridor with future growth and development within the corridor, consistant with the Town's Community Plan and Zoning Ordinance.

Beatties Ford - Mt. Holly Huntersville Road Small Area Plan

Description

The Beatties Ford/Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road Small Area Plan offers a number of transportation and land use recommendations for the study area, including retail/commercial development at the intersection of Beatties Ford Road and Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road; low and medium density residential development along Beatties Ford Road; and a mixed use low intensity “urban village”, immediately adjacent to the Long Creek Elementary School.  An important component of the plan is the creation of new street network, which will accommodate both local and regional traffic demand.  Under the plan, Beatties Ford Road will transform into a signature four-lane boulevard gateway into Huntersville, lined with shop-front buildings, street trees and sidewalks, creating a safe and attractive pedestrian friendly environment.

Davidson-Concord Road/NC 73 Area Plan

Description

The northern area of Mecklenburg County is sought after for its good quality of life, small town atmosphere and rural landscape. Recent development pressures in the area are threatening the rural landscape, agricultural sustainability, especially in the Davidson-Concord Road area. Decisions to build a high school and plans for a new road have prompted the Towns of Cornelius, Davidson, and Huntersville to develop a cohesive strategy for land use, transportation, and economic development in the study area.

The Downtown Master Plan

Description

The Downtown Master Plan includes a number of recommendations and implementation strategies for the development of the downtown over the next 20 years, covering such areas as transportation, traffic circulation, parking; civic infrastructure; private development; marketing and branding. The Downtown Master Plan is intended to guide public and private development initiatives during this planning timeframe and insure the creation of a vibrant town center that will be the defining place and image for the Town of Huntersville.

Mountain Island Lake Watershed Protection Guidelines

Description

The Mountain Island Lake (MIL) Watershed Protection Guidelines provide the Town of Huntersville and other municipalities within the Mountain Island Lake Watershed with strategies and guidelines for use at their discretion in the protection of water quality conditions in Mountain Island Lake. 

Mountain Island Lake is the primary public drinking water supply for the Town and surrounding municipalities, including the City of Charlotte and the Town’s of Davidson, Cornelius, Matthews, Mint Hill and Pineville.

Description

This multi-jurisdictional small area plan includes detailed recommendations for future land uses and transportation networks within the plan study area, encompassing approximately 1,800 acres along NC 73 from Davidson-Concord Road to Poplar Tent Road.

The NC 73 Transportation/Land Use Corridor Plan

Description

The NC 73 Transportation/Land Use Corridor Plan is a coordinated land use and multi-modal transportation plan for a 35 mile corridor, integrating local land use plans with strategic regional transportation needs.  The plan is the by-product of a coordinated, multi-jurisdictional transportation and land use planning effort, involving three (3) counties, five (5) municipalities, three (3) chambers of commerce, two (2) metropolitan planning organizations, one (1) rural planning organization, and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).  This plan represents the first wide-scale effort by NCDOT to integrate land use and transportation planning, recognizing the essential linkage between the two.
