Recycling
Collection
Recycling collection is handled by Advanced Disposal and will be collected once every two weeks. Recycling must be curbside by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day. Effective July 1, 2010, items that can be recycled include:
- (NEW) Plastic Containers (except #6)
- (NEW) Rigid Plastics
(toys, litter boxes & buckets)
- (NEW) Empty Aerosol Cans
- (NEW) Cartons & Juice Boxes
- Cardboard (flattened)
- Aluminum
- Glass
- Tin/Steel Cans
- Paper (newspaper, brown paper bags, magazines, corrugated containers, junk mail, high-grade
Items that cannot be recycled include: Pizza Boxes, Bottle Caps or Lids, Plastic Bags, Shredded Paper, Plastic Food Trays or Cups, Ceramics, Pots & Pans, Glassware, Paper Plates or Napkins, Batteries, Light Bulbs, Wire Hangers, Clamshells or Styrofoam
Recycling that does not meet the above criteria will be tagged as non-compliant.
Residents can also drop off recyclables at the North Mecklenburg Recycling Center and Yard Waste located at 12300 N. Statesville Road. Contact the Center for more information at (704) 947-8761.
