Basic Physical Defense for Women
The Town of Huntersville Police Department now offers basic physical defense class for women of all ages. The Rape-Aggression-Defense (R.A.D.) System is a comprehensive, women only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training.
General Information about the class: The class is twelve total hours divided up over two consecutive Saturdays usually from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., with a lunch break. All classes take place at the Huntersville Police Department. New classes are announced on the HPD website and through the news media.
For nearly twenty years, R.A.D. Systems has been creating opportunities for women to realize their inner power and strength. The Huntersville Police Department is proud to offer this training to the women of our community. This training will be delivered by R.A.D. trained and certified sworn Police Officers of the Department in an atmosphere of respect and honor.
The cornerstone of R.A.D. Systems has its foundations in education and awareness. Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) means philosophically “defense against abduction.” The course includes lecture, lively discussion and simple self defense techniques, suitable for women of all ages and abilities. Classes are generally limited to 16 – 20 participants and Town of Huntersville residents have priority.
The cost of the class is $35 (which covers both Saturday classes), and if you are interested in enrolling or would like more information, please call Captain Michael Kee at (704)464-5400 or mkee@huntersville.org
