National Night Out

National Night Out has been held annually since 1984 and is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch in the United States and Canada. On August 1, 2006, the Town of Huntersville in cooperation with the Huntersville Police Department sponsored National Night Out for the first time. National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, held the first Tuesday in August.

The Huntersville Police Department’s National Night Out is a free community event held within the Huntersville area filled with a parade, children’s games, hot dogs, face painting, and much more. Officers participate in handing out gifts and displaying different types of police equipment.
