Huntersville Parks & Recreation Department has ten parks which offer many amenities for you outdoor recreational needs.  These ten parks offer the following: twenty-one (21) baseball/softball fields, seventeen (17) soccer fields, ten (10) playgrounds, thirteen (13) tennis courts, seven (7) outdoor basketball courts, nine (9) covered shelters, six (6) walking trails, two (2) mountain bike trails and an 18-hole disc golf course.  These parks make up 230 acres of developed parkland and over 410 acres of undeveloped parkland. Over 983,000 patrons visited our parks in 2010.

 
Abernathy Park

Glendale Drive; between 4th and 5th streets

This 2-acre park is located on Glendale Drive; between Fourth and Fifth Streets. In 2004, Abernathy Park went through some renovations, which include a new full court basketball court and a brand new playground. This park is a great place for a fun day outside in the park.

Directions:
From I77, exit 23; Gilead Rd. to Rte 115; Rte 115 North to Ramah Church Rd.; Right on Ramah Church Rd. to Glendale Dr.; Right on Glendale Dr.; 2 blocks to park; park will be on right. Map It

Bradford Park

Opened in April of 2009, Bradford Park is Huntersville’s largest and newest park which sits on 213 acres. This park was jointly developed by the Town of Huntersville and Mecklenburg County. This park will help the town meet the growing recreation needs of the area. Bradford Park is located on Hwy 73 just east of Ramah Church Road. This park is an ideal location for large sporting and community events.

Directions:
From I-77, exit 25; Sam Furr Rd East (Hwy 73) travel approximately 5 miles and the park will be on your right.
From I-85, exit 55; Go West on Hwy 73 travel approximately 7.5 miles and the park will be on your left. Map It




Greenway Park

Corner of Greenway and Dallas Drives.

Greenway Park is a small neighborhood park on the corner of Greenway and Dallas Streets. Shaded by trees, this quiet park offers a great place to relax and unwind. Come read a book under the large oak tree or enjoy the playground structure and swings.

From I77, exit 23; Gilead Rd. to Rte 115; Rte 115 South to Greenway Dr.; Right on Greenway Dr.; 1/2 mile to park; park will be on right. Map It


Hambright Soccer Fields

Located behind Blythe Elementary School on Hambright Road

This ten acre site houses multiple soccer/football fields varying in sizes. The Town of Huntersville leases this land from Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. All fields have bermuda turf.

From I77, exit 23; Gilead Rd. to Hwy 21; Hwy 21South to Hambright Road.; Left on Hambright Road.; 1/4 mile to park; park will be on right. Map It

Holbrook Park

This neighborhood park on Sherwood Drive, across from Huntersville Elementary School, offers the community a wonderful place to enjoy an afternoon. With tennis courts, a playground structure, swings, restroom facilities, and a covered picnic shelter, this park is definitely a place to visit in Huntersville.

From I77, exit 23; east on Gilead Rd. to Sherwood Dr.; Turn left onto Sherwood Dr.; 1/2 block to park; park will be on the right. Map It

Huntersville Athletic Park

Built in 1997, Huntersville Athletic Park has something for everyone. Whether your participate in organized sports, enjoy walking your dog, or just relaxing under a shade tree this park can satisfied your recreational needs.

Directions:
From I-77, exit 23; Gilead Rd. to Statesville Road (NC21); Statesville Road (NC21) South to Verhoeff Dr.; Left on Verhoeff Dr.; Park is located 1/4 mile on your right. Map It


The Huntersville Market 
 
This market is located in the heart of downtown Huntersville. This site includes a large, covered shelter and an old caboose. During the summer and fall, this park is the site for the The Huntersville Market. Local farmers have joined this farmer's market to offer locally grown produce, crafts and more.  The market is open every Saturday from 7am -12pm May - October.

North Mecklenburg Park

Turned over to the Town in July of 1999, this Park offers over 100 acres of recreation fun. North Mecklenburg Park is located in the north end of Huntersville on Old Statesville Road at 16131 Old Statesville Rd. These aesthetic surroundings offer recreational activities for the entire family to enjoy. This park received the Outstanding Park Award from the National Softball Association in 2002 and 2008.

Richard Barry Memorial Park

Brand new for 2008, Barry Park is the first Huntersville park west of I-77. Barry Park includes 6 soccer/multi-purpose fields, playground, walking trail, and shelter. This park provides an excellent opportunity to meet the growing recreational needs of the town.
Directions:

From I-77, exit 23; go west on Gilead Rd. and continue to go west as Gilead Road turns into Bud Henderson Rd. continue on Bud Henderson Road as it will end at the intersection Beatties Ford Road. Barry Park will be at the intersection of Bud Henderson Rd. and Beatties Ford Rd. Map It


Waymer Park

This 13 acre park is located on Holbrooks Road, This park consists of one lighted adult softball field, one youth softball field, a multipurpose field, covered shelter with restrooms, two outdoor basketball courts and a playground structure. Picnic tables are located around the site, making this a perfect place for an outdoor barbecue.
