Huntersville Parks & Recreation Department’s Parks and Facilities Division is responsible for maintaining and operating eighteen (18) parks and recreational facilities, which include twenty-one (21) baseball/softball fields, seventeen (17) soccer fields, ten (10) playgrounds, thirteen (13) tennis courts, seven (7) outdoor basketball courts, nine (9) covered shelters, ten (10) restroom facilities, five (5) gymnasiums, two (2) Civic Buildings, 18 hole disc golf course, Town Hall and the Town Center Building. The department is responsible for 230 acres of developed parkland and over 410 acres of undeveloped parkland. Over 983,000 patrons visited our parks and over 128,000 visited our indoor facilities this year. Total attendance was up by 6% compared to 2009. The amenities in our parks and facilities were reserved for more than 50,000 hours. That is up by 17% compared to 2009. Some of the most used parks in Mecklenburg County are in Huntersville with 3,170 baseball and softball games played in 2010. That is an increase of 35% compared to 2009. A recent survey that was conducted, in which 355 people responded, showed that 30% of the respondents rated our parks and facilities as excellent; another 60% rated our parks and facilities as good. Overall 98% of the respondents rated our parks and facilities at average or above. Below is a map of the parks and recreation facilities the department operates.
