Did you know about half of Huntersville’s zoning jurisdiction is in a watershed overlay district?

Properties located in a watershed overlay district will have a maximum impervious allowance to protect drinking water supply intake sources located in Mountain Island Lake and Lake Norman. Examples of impervious include surfaces such as sidewalks, driveways, patios, any roofed structure and gravel or stones.

The Huntersville Planning Department has designed this Watershed Regulations brochure to inform residents about impervious regulations that may affect their property.
