HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – Construction of Veterans Park has been delayed due to a water line located along Main Street. The water line was not detected during underground locating.
The water line will need to be relocated in order to get new storm water piping installed along Main Street.
The town hopes to get plans signed off this week by Charlotte Water for relocating the water line. If plans are approved, work can start back up in approximately two to three weeks.
Veterans Park is located in downtown Huntersville between Main Street and Maxwell Avenue. The Veterans Park Memorial will consist of six monuments honoring each branch of service in addition to a rotating granite globe representing the global impact of America’s veterans. The park will also include an amphitheater and festival lawn. Bricks can be purchased for the park to honor a veteran by contacting Huntersville Parks and Recreation at 704-766-2220 or visiting http://www.lakenormanrotary.org/veterans-memorial.php
