Congresswoman Alma Adams, North Carolina's 12th Congressional District Representative, recently honored seven students in her district that were awarded appointment offers to attend U.S. Service Academies. Three of the seven students had direct ties to Huntersville.
High school seniors from the district are nominated each year by Congresswoman Adams for appointments to the U.S. Military (USMA), Naval (USNA), Air Force (USAFA) and Merchant Marine Academies (USMA). This year, Alexander Gerard Pena Ponce and Daniel C. Alperi of Lake Norman Charter School as well as Huntersville resident Scott A. Long were honored. Ponce and Long both received appointment offers to the U.S. Air Force Academy as well as U.S. Navy Academy. Alperi received an appointment offer to the U.S. Air Force Academy.
The application process for Congresswoman Adams' office is now open. All qualifying juniors and seniors in the 12th district are encouraged to submit their applications no later than Monday, October 30, 2017.
