As part of the I-77 Express Lanes project, the Hambright Road bridge that crosses over I-77 will close in early June after the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school year ends. This closure will last approximately 12 months. Hambright Road between Mt. Holly Huntersville Road and Statesville Road will be limited to local traffic only. The existing bridge will be removed in order to build a new bridge that will allow traffic on Hambright Road to directly access the I-77 Express Lanes. Motorists can use the following detour routes: Mt. Holly Huntersville Road to Alexandriana Road to US 21 or Mt. Holly Huntersville Road to US 21. All construction activity is weather permitting.
Construction updates and traffic notices can be found in the project’s website at http://www.i77express.com/ You can also subscribe to receive project construction updates and traffic notices at http://www.i77express.com/newsroom/newsletter-e-alerts/ or visit the I-77 Express Lanes Facebook page or follow the project on Twitter at https://twitter.com/i77xprslanes .
Motorists are encouraged to pay attention when approaching the work zone, obey the posted speed limit, work zone and detour signs, and allow extra time to reach their destinations safely.
