HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – The Town of Huntersville received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). This award is the highest form of recognition for governmental accounting and financial reporting.

This is the first time Huntersville has applied for and received the Certificate of Achievement. Finance Director Jackie Huffman and her staff were recognized for their hard work on the CAFR at the March 6, 2017 Town Board meeting. 
 

“The CAFR represents the hard work of all finance employees and cooperation from all Town departments to produce trend data in financial statements. Having one document that can be referred to for a decade of data increases our financial transparency,” said Huffman.

The Finance Department plans to continue submitting financial statements for the award annually.

The GFOA serves 19,000 government finance professionals, and is a nonprofit professional association dedicated to promoting excellence in state and local government financial management. Offices for the GFOA are located in Chicago, IL and Washington, D.C.
