A winter storm warning is in effect for Mecklenburg County from 7:00pm on Friday until 1:00pm Saturday. The Town of Huntersville is actively monitoring weather conditions and making preparations for the winter storm.
The public safety and well-being of our residents during the winter storm is a top priority. Residents should stay off the roads during the winter storm. We also encourage residents to make necessary preparations prior to the winter storm such as having an adequate food and water supply, charging cell phones, and properly setting heat temperatures on thermostats to avoid pipes from freezing.
Engineering and Public Works has pre-treated the Town’s adopted bare pavement route with 4800 gallons of brine. In addition, the Town has provided neighboring municipalities with brine to treat their streets. Crews are staffed to plow snow along the Town’s adopted snow removal routes. Residents are encouraged to move their cars off the streets so plows are able to come down roadways. The Town of Huntersville does not plow all 200 miles of streets in the Town of Huntersville, and only hits key access roads. Certain roads are maintained and plowed by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).
Huntersville Police Department and Huntersville Fire Department are equipped with the staffing and equipment to respond to emergencies during the storm. Residents should call 911 if they have an emergency during the winter storm.
Parks and Recreation
All Huntersville Parks and Recreation events are cancelled and facilities will be closed this weekend. Parks and Recreation staff will be working to pre-treat and remove snow in park areas.
Electricities is prepared for the winter storm and is monitoring the storm. Crews are on standby should there be any outages.
Advanced Disposal is monitoring weather conditions to determine if there will be any delays in trash service on Monday. The Town of Huntersville will update residents if there is a delay in trash service via the Town’s website and social media pages.
