On October 3, 2016, Charlotte Water will commence smoke testing for McDowell Basin and surrounding areas. Charlotte Water has provided door hangers at the local Huntersville addresses where smoke testing will occur. Smoke testing is a technique used to blow smoke into the sewer system to detect leaks. Charlotte Water has contracted Black & Veatch and their consultants to conduct smoke tests. Please be aware that over the next several weeks, uniformed crews from Black and Veatch as well as Gavel & Dorn will be working along the sewer lines and at manholes.
Residents that received door hangers are being asked to run about a gallon of water from all faucets in their home into all sinks and showers and let it drain out. In addition, residents are being asked to fill dry toilets with water and pour a gallon of water into any floor drains.
For concerns or questions regarding the work, please contact Field Manager, Adam Brookshire (704)-719-6217. Additional information can also be provided by contacting Irene (Tesha) Okioga/Charlotte Water at (704)391-5082 or Irene.Okioga@ci.charlotte.nc.us.
