National Night Out 2016

National Night Out, sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, is a national neighborhood crime and drug prevention event occurring annually on the first Tuesday in August. It is celebrated in numerous cities and towns across the United States. Over the past few decades, National Night Out participation has grown to over thirty-seven million people in over fifteen thousand communities to include all fifty states, US territories and military bases, as well as Canada. This marks the tenth year the Town of Huntersville has participated in National Night Out.

In observance of National Night Out, Tuesday, August 2, 2016, the Huntersville Police Department in conjunction with our local lead sponsors, Target and the Northcross Shopping Center, will host our annual event at two locations this year.

Location 1:
9801 Sam Furr Road, Huntersville (Target and Northcross Shopping Center)

Location 2:
14200 Holbrooks Road (Waymer Park)

Both locations will be open from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Please come and enjoy the events, music, and rides.

If you are an area business who would like to be a vendor at the events, please contact Sergeant Brad Habenicht at or 704-464-5359.

As part of our planned events, we ask that area residents get to know one another by introducing yourself to your neighbors. Consider planning your own neighborhood events, such as block parties, cookouts, porch sittings and events aimed at reducing crime and the fear of it.

If you can not attend our event, the Huntersville Police Department would ask that you show your support by leaving your front porch light on from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

If you are planning your own community event and would like officers to attend, or if you have any questions, please contact Sergeant Brad Habenicht at or  704-464-5359.

“The Mission of the Huntersville Police Department, through a Community Policing Partnership, is to improve the quality of life and provide a sense of safety and security in our community, through the delivery of outstanding services with the highest standards of Honor, Professionalism, and Dedication to Duty.”
