On Wednesday, August 26th, 2015, the Huntersville Police Department held a press conference to promote our newest DWI Education effort, the “Cop Cab.” The press conference was held at Blythe Landing, just off one of the town's busiest stretches of roadway along NC Hwy 73.
Wednesday's announcement was planned in conjunction with the Governor's Highway Safety Program's Booze It and Lose It campaign that runs through Labor Day.
The Huntersville Police have partnered with many local businesses in this endeavor and representatives were on hand to answer questions. Following the announcement, Huntersville Police hosted a multi-jurisdictional DWI checkpoint on NC Hwy 73 near Blythe Landing.
The checkpoint was conducted by officers from the Huntersville Police Department, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Cornelius Police Department and Mecklenburg County ABC Police. The following charges resulted from this checkpoint:
3 – Impaired Driving
2 – Driving While License Revoked
2 – No Operator’s License
4 – Drug Charges
1 – Open Container Violation
1 – Resisting Public Officer
3 – Other Miscellaneous Traffic Charges
Booze It and Lose It operations will continue through Labor Day weekend.
Special thanks to our partners on the "Cop Cab."
