Nutec Group, in partnership with Mecklenburg County, the Town of Huntersville, and Lake Norman Economic Development, are pleased to announce the plans to develop a new advanced manufacturing facility in the Town of Huntersville. Nutec’s first North American facility, a 62,500 square-foot building, would be constructed on Mount-Holly Huntersville Road. The company plans to invest approximately $19,200,000 and create 61 new jobs.
“Nutec is proud and we feel very fortunate to have found Huntersville in Mecklenburg County as the new home of our first U.S. manufacturing facility,” said Gerardo Muraira, Vice President of Projects and Plant Manager for the Huntersville location. “I am confident that the Charlotte Region’s highly skilled workforce and flourishing advanced manufacturing cluster will create the ideal environment for Nutec’s future growth in the US. The site in Huntersville was an excellent choice for us because of its proximity to Charlotte and the airport. It is important for us to have a manufacturing facility here in the US to serve our growing business and it allows us the ability to reach our customer base quicker, and to provide more cost effective solutions.”
“This investment by Nutec reflects the global appeal of Mecklenburg County and we warmly welcome the opportunity to partner with them for job creation., remarked the Chair of the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners, Trevor M. Fuller. “The jobs created by this project are a great opportunity for employees that comprise the strong manufacturing base in our County and will provide avenues for growth and economic mobility.”
“I am pleased to welcome Nutec to Huntersville,” said Jill Swain, Mayor of Huntersville. “It says so much about our town that they chose to build their first North American operations here. We know we were competing against other qualified municipalities, but we have felt for a long time that Nutec and Huntersville just fit together well. “
“Nutec’s decision to build their first North American facility in Huntersville speaks volumes about our pro-business climate and qualified workforce. At the same time, it demonstrates that the Lake Norman area’s thriving advanced manufacturing scene remains at the forefront of minds of global business leaders who are looking to remain competitive and grow in the United States.,” stated Ryan McDaniels, Executive Director of Lake Norman Economic Development.
The Charlotte Chamber, Charlotte Regional Partnership, Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, EnergyUnited, and the North Carolina Department of Commerce provided assistance with this project.
The proposed facility is contingent upon approval of a Business Investment Program grant by the Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners, as well as Economic Development Incentive grant approval by the Huntersville Town Board of Commissioners.
