Norfolk Southern has begun work on rail improvements to railroad ties and surfacing in Huntersville.
At this point are hoping to complete all repairs this week (we hope, too!) in advance of Christmas. Be prepared for delays and road closures throughout the corridor as contractors continue tie replacement south through Huntersville. Road closures should last for a few hours and signage will be posted during the day as crews perform crossing tie replacement. Crossings will be opened back up between the period of prep and repaving.
For more information, contact the NS Division Engineer: 866-255-4251. For insurance claims related to the crossings, call the Norfolk Southern Law Department at 704-378-3726.
LATEST UPDATE (12/15, 3 p.m.)
Per the contractor this afternoon, McCord is scheduled for prep work tomorrow, starting early in the morning and is slated for final repair on Wednesday. Ramah Church is also scheduled for tomorrow. They will complete work at McCord before moving on to Ramah Church. Road closure and detour signs will be out. Final asphalt paving is running 1-2 days behind prep work.
